Cleaning and drying pillow cores requires choosing the appropriate method based on the material. Incorrect operation may damage the structure or accelerate aging. Below is a guide to cleaning and drying common pillow core types to help you maintain safe and effective sleep hygiene.

Washable Pillow Cores: Hand or Machine Washable

1. Synthetic Fiber Pillow Cores

Cleaning Method: Machine or hand washable. It is recommended to use a neutral detergent (such as laundry liquid) to avoid alkaline detergents that can cause the fibers to harden.

Precautions: When machine washing, you can put the pillow core in a laundry bag and use a towel to balance the water flow and prevent deformation.

Drying Method: Lay flat to air dry in a ventilated place. It can also be tumble dried, but avoid high temperatures. Turn the pillow core over periodically while air drying to ensure it is thoroughly dry inside and out.

2. Silicone Pillow Cores

Cleaning Method: Supports hand and machine washing. Water temperature should not exceed 30℃. Use a neutral detergent.

Precautions: Avoid chlorine bleach or fabric softener to prevent material aging; machine wash on a gentle cycle.

Drying Method: After washing, gently squeeze out excess water and lay flat to air dry in a cool, well-ventilated place. Do not expose to direct sunlight or tumble dry at high temperatures.

Hand Washing Recommended for Pillow Cores: Protecting the Material Structure

1. Latex Pillow Core

Cleaning Method: Hand wash only. Lay the pillow core flat in cold water with neutral detergent and gently wash using a "squeeze-and-release" motion. Avoid rubbing or machine washing to prevent damage to the internal structure.

Precautions: Latex absorbs water and becomes significantly heavier. When handling, support the bottom and do not lift with one hand.

Air Drying Method: Absorb surface moisture with a dry cloth and air dry naturally in a cool, well-ventilated place. Do not expose to direct sunlight or tumble dry, as ultraviolet rays and high temperatures will accelerate oxidation and aging.

2. Down Pillow Core

Cleaning Method: Hand washing is recommended. Soak in cold water for 20 minutes, then soak in 30℃ warm water with neutral detergent for 15 minutes. Gently brush the surface with a soft brush.

Precautions: When rinsing, add 4-5 tablespoons of white vinegar to the water to reduce detergent residue and damage to the down.

Drying method: Gently squeeze out excess water by hand; do not wring. Air dry in a cool, shaded place, then gently pat to restore fluffiness. If possible, tumble dry on a low heat.
